Artist Agne Bukaty working on art commision

Hello

Hello, I am  Agne, and welcome to my page. I am Co. Wicklow-based artist and designer. I have been living in Ireland for more than half of my life and here is where I call it my home. I am a qualified interior designer with experience in commercial design by a profession but my other job is as an artist where I get to be as creative as I'd like and work for myself. Painting is like meditation to me, true relaxation and passion where I lose hours of time and enjoy every moment. I love to get messy with paint, try new techniques, and in a result make something beautiful that will be loved enjoyed, and cherished for years to come. First I did it for myself, my family and friends, but recently I allowed my art to be spread into the world and to be enjoyed by many.

My Story

My love of art stems back from my childhood when I was always drawing, painting, making flower arrangements while learning floristics, learning to sew and crochet and trying every new skill and craft I could get my hands on. I was born in Lithuania and from a young age, creativity was encouraged. Having a mother who always was very creative and artistic gave me an early start to explore and evolve my talents. I attended a school that was very art focused for a few years before moving to Ireland.

My talents were quickly seen and encouraged in Ireland. In school, my works were hung on walls and used as examples for other students. I have won art competitions and in school loved Art classes the most and only looked forward to them during school time.

Once I graduated from school I studied Art & Mixed media. It was amazing and I enjoyed every moment of those studies. After a year of studies, I proceeded to Interior design & furniture to study for four years and I graduated with a bachelor's degree.

What I paint and why

During my studies, I lost my love for painting and art. Life was busy, studies were hard and there was not enough time in a day for everything. Fast forward to a few years later husband, two beautiful kids and two cats later and I found my passion for art again.

Having my boys was one of the hardest things I have ever done and more than ever I needed time to myself. Something that made me happy, fulfilled and relaxed. And this is how I found my passion and love for painting again. Buying our first home and decorating it with my art made me understand that I can combine my love for interior design with art. Art not only should look beautiful but also look good in the space it is hung. It should enhance the room, sometimes even become a statement of the room and this became my vision of what I want to do. Once I ran out of walls in my own home I filled my family and friends' homes. Now I am open to filling other people's homes with my art.

My art does not follow one theme or technique as I like to get creative and make something special each time. I am learning new techniques, trying out new products, and getting inspired daily with new ideas to paint.

I paint what reflects my mood at the time. I get inspired by nature and in spring I paint more flowers and greenery, in autumn paintings are deeper in colour and have more gold and glow. I love using metallic, iridescent paints, structural paste, and different 3d techniques to make my artworks stand out. When I am not sure what to paint I love a good expressive abstract. My interior design job is serious, precise and calculated but with art, I get to feel loose, creative and free. This creates a perfect balance in my life.
